I have had an active interest in multimedia for a number of years, and have been studying multimedia for nearly 5 years. My objective is to obtain a career in the new media industry, preferably web or graphic design. I have gained valuable skills and insight in my studies and I believe I could incorporate them well into a good design company.
The following is a list of my qualifications to date:
Studying at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown campus achieving a Second Class Upper Division Degree.
Achieving an Advanced Diploma in e-media at Castlereagh College scoring 10 Distinctions from a possible 12.
Studying Science and I.C.T at this level I managed to obtain grades in both subjects.
I hold 6 G.C.S.E's at grade C, including English, Maths and Science, with the full list of my being: G.C.S.E’s are English C, Double award Science C, I.T C, Maths C, Road traffic Studies, C.
I have experience with Windows; 95, 98, 2000 and XP I have also used Mac; OS X and earlier versions of Mac versions of Mac Premier.
In my studies I have used all the languages you would expect to find associated with multimedia design: XHTML, HTML 4.0, CSS, RSS, XML, XSLT, DTD, Java Script, Action Script 2.0, PHP.
Also while studying I have learnt to use different versions of; Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Flash, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Premier, Adobe Illustrator, Fireworks, Freehand, Sound Forge, Visual Basic, 3DsMax, X-ray XML editor, Backbase toolkit.
Working in Tesco for the past 5 years has given me good insight to the working world. I have learnt and matured from this experience, for example I have bettered myself to listen to my peers, respect the management system and learnt the value of good time keeping and attendance.
In November 2002 I worked at the BBC as part of a work placement programme with school. In this time I was in both the I.T. support and the web development departments. In the I.T. support I assisted the technicians with computers that needed maintenance. In the Web development department I gained my first experiences with programs such as Dreamweaver Fireworks and Flash, this department was responsible for all of the BBC websites in Northern Ireland.
I am active, full of energy and enjoy a variety of sports. My main interest in sport is football, although I'm not currently a member of any squad at the moment I have played for countless clubs in the past and I know what it takes to be part of a winning team.
I am also very keen on badminton and have been in various badminton clubs in the past years, where again I have had to work as part of a team to achieve our goal of winning matches. In my spare time I like to play snooker and pool and go for bicycle rides as maintaining an active lifestyle is important to me.
I also have an Interest in Music, especially the drums and the guitar. I have had a number of drum lessons and would very much like to continue with these and I also intend to start guitar lessons some time in the near future to increase my ability.
Always having had an active interest in computers for as long as I can remember, G.C.S.E I.T was a natural choice for me at this level and this was my first real insight to the field. When I managed to obtain my G.C.S.E it was decided that I would study further into this field by doing an A.V.C.E in I.C.T. Believing I.C.T. was the gateway into the Multimedia world, and having excelled at the graphic side of computers when I was in school, I knew what career path lay ahead of me.
My real first in-depth encounter with multimedia was when I started my BTEC Advanced Diploma in e-media. From here my interest and flair for the industry grew and I really started to become talented.
Most of my Achievements to date have been in Education. In school I was always very punctual and had a very high attendance record, I won numerous attendance awards and even managed to win the highest attendance award for the year out of the whole school.
My main achievements from school would have to be my G.C.S.E’s; I was able to obtain 6 at grade C, including Maths English and Science. I also got two grades in A.V.C.E and they where in Science and I.C.T After my school days I decided to further my education by enrolling in a BTEC Advanced Diploma in e-media, I managed to get the highest grades in the class and obtained 10 Distinctions out of a possible 12, the joint highest ever in Castlereagh College for this subject.
I have excellent attendance records thought out my school and working days; I have held a part time job for over 5 years so I know the value of teamwork. I have always worked well within a group and I value the opinion of my colleges. I am willing to try new things and always have a thirst to learn, to better my knowledge.
I would describe myself as innovative, fresh young multimedia designer with a will to get the job done and succeed wherever I can.
